I'm considering the option of a 6-71 Detroit Diesel for my Crackerbox project. My question is, would anybody out there have a source of dimensions for those old motors? I've managed to get some decent photos off the internet, but none that tell me the length/width of the basic block, etc... The real things have become about impossible to locate and measure... unless you can find somebody who has one in their boat! Any tips would be much appreciated... Oh yea, one more thing... Does anybody know if Clint Freeman still offers his 6-71 in kit form?

I'm pretty sure that the Clint Freeman 6-71 isn't available anymore; and the only one that is available (or not as the case maybe) is from SourKraut. Hopefully another caster will be offering the 6-71 again, but I wouldn't count on it.

Thanks Jim.... Maybe I should go hang out at the local marina. One of those high-falootin'-types might have a couple Screamin' Jimmies in his yacht!

It's worth a shot, but do you think they'll really let one of the "little people" on their yacht?

Check Detroit Diesel question in Big Rig Reference. If you need more , I'd be happy to go back to the barn with the measuring tape! Steve
